During the luncheon, Frenship had the opportunity to thank the many businesses, city governments, higher education and healthcare leaders, non-profit organizations, parents, and community partners who continually support Frenship ISD programs like CTE, athletics, fine arts and more.
“Frenship is a growing and thriving district where our students are excelling at the highest levels, and much of that success is because of the incredible support we receive from our community,” said Tiffany Taylor, Frenship ISD Director of Communications and Community Engagement. “We have businesses like United Supermarkets and H-E-B that provide hands-on learning opportunities for our Culinary and Floral Design programs. Local business leaders lend their time and expertise as mentors for students in the INCubatoredu entrepreneurial program. From PTAs and Boosters to funding Frenship Foundation teacher grants and student scholarships, our community steps up in a big way to enhance education across our district.”
The luncheon featured updates on the new campuses including the opening of Alcove Trails Middle School this year, Ridgewood Elementary that will open August of 2024, and Frenship Memorial High School that is set to open in August of 2025.
The second half of the luncheon focused on a panel discussion on the recent Frenship Memorial High School spirit related decisions like the naming of the new mascot and colors. Led by Frenship ISD’s Director of Strategic Initiatives Keith Patrick, the group heard from Superintendent Dr. Michelle McCord, Frenship Memorial High School Principal Chelsey Campbell, and Frenship High School seniors Annabelle Bennett and Andrew Narvais who served on the Spirit Committee.
“We are keenly aware that the decisions being made about Frenship Memorial will last far into the future. But more importantly, we know that decisions aren’t just about boundaries, or mascots, or guidelines – every decision affects the people we serve,” said Patrick. “It’s very important that the community understands that we’re doing everything we can to include as many voices as possible in the process. I hope they see that students, parents, alumni, and other stakeholders are being involved at every step of the process.”
During the panel, the students and administrators detailed the process of the Spirit Committee with Heritage Middle School and Terra Vista Middle School students, the first to attend Frenship Memorial, having the final say and vote on their new mascot the Panthers and colors of Frenship Blue and Bright Blue.
