Legacy Elementary Donates to the Make-A-Wish Foundation

Legacy Elementary has always had a special heart for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, as several of their students have been granted wishes from the nonprofit. Beginning in the 2016-2017 school year, Legacy has been involved in hosting an annual fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

At the beginning of the semester students participated in the Change Drive, an event where students donated cash/change to participate in dress up days and activities. Dress up days included, Disney day, crazy hair day, board game day, silly sock day, and many more.

After weeks of raising money, the students collected over $1,200 for the Foundation. The donation will go directly to help grant wishes for children in the Lubbock area.

Valerie Llanas, Legacy school counselor, believes that the fundraiser not only makes a big impact on the Make-A-Wish foundation recipients but also on the students and staff. “Donating to Make-A-Wish helps foster kindness and empathy towards others. It gives the students a sense of charitable giving. This fundraiser also exemplifies the Frenship SERVE model for our students and staff,” said Llanas.

The Frenship SERVE model stands for smile, engage, respect, volunteer, and encourage.

Frenship ISD is committed to exhibiting The Frenship Way as a district by our servant leadership, instilling positive behaviors in our students and staff, and serving our community at every opportunity.

Way to go, Legacy students, we are proud of your hard work for the community!
