Legacy Elementary Students Prepare for the Future

By Allison Robertson

Fifth grade students at Legacy Elementary were digging deep into their Social Studies lesson last week. Their teacher, Mr. Schneider, had classes prepare Time Capsules.

Each student completed an "All About Me" survey and wrote a letter to place inside the capsules. The student letters could either be written to a future civilization or to themselves.

Also included in the time capsules were a piece of string that students cut to exactly match how tall they are now. Mr. Schneider told the students that they would bury the time capsules now and try to find them at the end of the year.

Once found, the students can read the surveys and letters and observe their personal growth. They can also measure their physical growth with the strings. If they do not find the time capsule, they will be there for future civilizations to find.
